i was very bearish on facebook. they burned and maybe burn lots of cash. BUT … they move fast and each move is sooo brilliant. i recently watched an interview with randi zuckerberg where she found great words: “facebook makes communication so natural.” within facebook it really feels like talking to your friends: real names, transparent communication and relative privacy. they simply follow peter druckers advice: “efficiency is doing better what is already being done.”

facebooks reach is already amazing. 40% of norways population is on facebook. 250 million are on the network now. they are aiming one billion users, which feels possible to me.

the thing is: they are a true platform. you can build your business on this platform. like candystand. they prefer to use facebook connect instead of building their own social network.

now facebook test its own facebook currency. the next big thing. people talk, play and live on facebook. people pay for ringtones and they will pay for virtual items.

so what is it exactly that make facebook so successful?

sure, lots of ingredients: great idea that fills a need from a great entrepreneur at the right time in the right environment. the most influential aspect imho is mark zuckerberg. see this video to see his passion and geeky genius.

Hey all out there!

You may have wondered whats up with this crazy guy namewise! The last few month have been a blast of change. Business and private. Not that i want to excuse myself of not blogging but blogging the last month was not the perfect medium for me, even if i have consumed tons and tons of great blog posts.

As the time for work was really limited i preferred twitter and for sure skype chat.

Blogging was often on my mind, but as the projects i am involved took lots of time i did not find the time to share my thoughts and progress with you.

Last week we achieved a really important milestone in one of our most important projects so far. All in all, it seems that there is more time now to share. But that can change fast

Sure! It is a misspelling. It is a typo. The discussion was put up @ thedomains.com … and i want to also give my two cent. Out of the 29 comments 28 do NOT GET the IDEA of TRAFFIC.

The typo domain realsestate.com gets nearly 200 visitor a month who wish to buy a real estate. If you would habe to buy google - each visitor would be round about $2,50. So make the math. You would have to pay google $500 a month. The domain is in the auction for $ 3k … it pays itself within 6 month.

And these “domainer” ask themeself why someone would pay SO MUCH??

Right now, you may sit - most likely - in front of your computer in your office. This morning you headed there, maybe consciously or consciously. What I am interested in is … What was the question you where asking yourself today, what to do? Maybe again, this question was really conscious, like ‘Where can I find the next great bargain domain to buy?’ and then you where looking through the boards and posts to find your new muse. Maybe the question that is leading your day today was more unconscious … it was leading you to finishing the paper for your tax consultant and the underlying question was ‘What is necessary to maintain the system?’.

Why do I ask you all this?

It is simple as this: Because, the question you ask yourself leads your train of thought. And your train of thought leads you to your actions. Needless to say that your actions lead you to results. Maybe you asked yourself ‘Whats the biggest fun today?’, which lead you to a task that made you happy and so … Fun is your aim!

Sometimes it is security, sometimes profit, sometimes fun and sometimes we do not even have a clue what it is we are heading to, cause we are lost in thought or in the engagement we are in.

For a domainer blog this post seems to you still to unspecific. Right! There are dozens of blogs out there that have great advice for the specific task. Finding great domains, SEO, SEM, etc.

Sometimes it is a great idea to simply step back and look from a wider or just a different perspective, which may lead to new insights.

wie geil war das denn? Die Seo Campixx war der Hit. Ganz herzlichen Dank an den Seonauten für die Organisation dieser wirklich aussergewöhnlichen Veranstaltung! An den drei Tagen hat man immer gemerkt: Da hat jemand genauesten mitgedacht und weis was SEOs wollen. Alles hat gepasst! Twitterwall, Spam Drinks und sogar PrintTwitter auf der Toilette!

Some weeks ago i already planned to post about one of my favorite books “The 4 hour work week” from Tim Ferris. I really love this book. It has hundreds small advices and practical tips. It made me think what I could simplify in my daily routines. The best about Tims books is that he lifes what talks about.

He produced BrainQuicken and sells it over the internet. BrainQuicken can help to become smarter and as Tim explains in his book - through to huge margins - helped him to become one of the new rich and totally independent of time and place.

Today I found a post on his blog about domains ‘How to buy domain names like a pro‘ and take this as a chance to finally post about Tim. Even as I consider myself a domain pro, I found in this post some great NEW possibilities to tune the process to aquire a domain.

Since friends, business partner and familiy know that I am a so called domainer, I got the hear this question a lot. How is the domain market?

Bad thing, that we do not have something like the Dow in the domain industry. So I can tell my from my personal perspective and I can cite market reports. So how is the market?

What I can tell from my own perspective, the domain market ist rock solid. We just finished a five figure sale of a .de domain for a client. I cannot tell you that domain, but I can tell you that you would be more than surprised to hear that such a domain sold for mid five figure. I think that people tend to realize that the internet is a great tool to create extra revenue streams especially since their workplace in the crisis may is maybe unsecure.

An other aspect, why i see the market rock solid, is the domain report from sedo.

It shows that especially the .de zone is quite healthy and strong. There have been some undisclosed seven figure deals in the .de zone. Really nice! And the average domain sales price rose.

This moring i stumbled upon Sahars post in his Blog, where he put up the question: What is the secret of my success? I really love Sahars posts, because in some way they make me think and often I disagree with him.

But lets see, what is the secret in Sahars eyes! It is the faith in yourself, having a library of pictures of your past where you succeeded and as a consequence, believe in yourself when no one believes in yourself. If you do not believe in yourself, if you do not try and if you do not push, you get no reward. Sahar says he never met someone who excelled at anything without hardwork.

Ok, you might say. This is common believe. So do i. Righty, right. Now comes the contrarian Namewise and simply answers: that is bullshit!

What is the secret then? This is the secret! Everything there is is this. This moment! There is nothing else. All the rest, are stories, concepts and theories. A waste of time and simply an illusion. All this crap with ‘You need goals in your life’ and ‘You need a vision’. All this crap with purpose and sense.

The secret is so obvious, that most of the people cannot see it.

What has the library of the past to do with the right now. Nothing! These are images your brain produces in absence of something else to do. Everything in life happens. Try it out! Try to have no thoughts!

Take some of the most brilliant brains and take your life. I bet that you did not plan what you are doing right now. That simply happend and that is great! Take Markus who created Plenty of Fish in one week and ‘works’ 10 minutes a day. It happend! And others go to work 40 hours a week and … that is also great!

It is simply us that labels a lot of stuff with sticker, that say: bad or good. See the current crisis. See people like Bernie Mad-Off. lol. They start to get greedy and they do not stop. Why? Cause they think, that when they have an extra 10 billion, an extra jet, an extra yacht, they might be more happy. This is simply an illusion. There will never be something else than this.

Concepts are like candy for your rational mind - like doing a crossword puzzle. And for sure they give you a feeling of security. It can be fun to think about them and this is also a part of it but an illusion.

Just my two cent and more food for thought!
